Throughout
my tenure at LasVegas.com, I got to write dozens of features
about shows, hotels, attractions and just about everything
Las Vegas. This was one of my more interesting seasonal
articles.
Moms
Gone Wild: Mother's Day in Las Vegas
By
Scott Roeben
What's
going to make Mother's Day special this year? Chocolates?
Flowers? Yawn. It's Mother's Day! Las Vegas is the place
for mothers to cut loose, to let go, to throw caution to
the wind and have an all-out blast. Las Vegas is saucy,
sexy, wild, and full of adventure. Don't look now, but those
are probably qualities that describe the mother in your
life, too.
Don't
celebrate Mother's Day the same old way! Make Mother's Day
an occasion to remember by treating yourself, or that mother
in your life, to all the exciting diversions Las Vegas has
to offer. Rip off that apron, Mom, it's time to take a walk
on the wild side!
Lubrication
Having
fun in Las Vegas is all about getting into the spirit of
America's most electric city. And what better to get into
the spirit than…spirits?
Get
Mom into a celebratory mood with a stop at one of these
boisterous Sin City watering holes:
Margaritaville at Flamingo
Fado
at Green Valley Ranch
V Bar
at Venetian
Nine
Fine Irishmen at New York-New York
Red Square
at Mandalay Bay
Getting
Some Ink
Now
that Mom's sufficiently buzzed, it's time to get inked.
For years, tough guys have gotten tattoos sporting the word
"Mom," but now it's Mom's turn!
The
coolest spot for a tattoo is the Hart & Huntington Tattoo
Company at the Palms.
Good
to be Bad
It's
time for Mom to have some sure-fired fun at one of the city's
fleshfests. Hey, she's might be a mother, but she's still
got hormones!
The
clothes will be flying as dear old Mom feasts her eyes on
the bulging muscles at these steamy thrust-a-thons:
Australia's Thunder From Down Under
Chippendale's,
The Show
Men,
The Show
Playing
Hard
Las
Vegas is like a playground for grown-ups, so it's time to
let Mom play! There's no mistaking that dreamy look Mom
gets when she finds that lucky slot machine.
A
visit to Las Vegas is not the time to think about paying
for tuition or the mortgage. It's time to play and play
hard in one of the city's casinos.
Not
Your Typical Spa Day
If
Mom's really going to get wild on Mother's Day, it can't
be just your typical visit to one of Las Vegas' world-class
spas. She might need a nudge, but Mom's going to love her
new bikini wax!
These
spas are uniquely capable of handling this delicate job:
Grand Court Spa at Golden Nugget (from $35)
Spa Moulay
at Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas ($65)
Grand
Spa at MGM Grand ($50)
Spa at
Bally's Las Vegas (from $35)
Las
Vegas is Tops
If
Mom's going to let it all hang out in Las Vegas, we know
just where she should start! Mom will show everyone she's
still got it at one of the city's top-optional (also known
as European-style) pools.
She
can show off her natural assets at Moorea Beach at Mandalay
Bay and at the pool at Caesars Palace.
All
Decked Out
Mom
can hit the mall anytime back home. In Las Vegas, it's all
about breaking away from the ordinary. So, how about a more
exotic shopping excursion?
Help
Mom free her inner stripper with a trip to one of the city's
adult clothing stores. From showgirl regalia to slinky lingerie
likely to give Dad a coronary, Las Vegas has it all.
Might
as Well Jump
Raising
children can be quite an adventure, but we've got another
one that's a little less precarious. How about treating
Mom to a skydive? Whether indoors at Fly Away Indoor Skydiving,
or outdoors at Skydive Las Vegas, Mom will never forget
this Las Vegas adventure.
Go
Wild
Mothers
come in all shapes and sizes. Thankfully, Las Vegas is the
perfect fit when it comes to making Mother's Day unforgettable.
Get
creative. Get wild. You only go around once in life, Mom!
Book
a room and let the Mother's Day fun roll!
